 	Education for the development (EFD) is a small international organization that was set up in 1996 by a Swiss and a Belgian volunteer who are teaching English to children on the street.
EFD believes education improves the quality of life for disadvantaged children. In the United States, almost everyone, at one time or another, has been volunteer.
According to U.S. governmer statistics, about one-fifth of the American population does volunteer work each year. Americans have had the tradition of volunteering and helping one another since the early days of the country.
