Lesson 1: a1 – video games.
I. Objectives.
 - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know the new theme “Video games”. 
1. Language focus:
 - New words: video games, arcade, addictive..
2. Language skills:
 - Listening.
 - Communicate.
II. Teaching aids.
Teacher: - Text book, teacher's book, lesson plan, tape and cassette, a poster.
Students: - Text book, notebook.
III. Procedure.

 2. Check up: (1S).
 * Question: Write new words in the last period.
 * Answer: New words in the last period.
 3. New lesson:
Teacher's activities
* Warm up.
. Play game: Giving Advice.
- Divide the class into 2 groups.
- Read the requirement and ask Ss to give the advice.
- Finish the game, the group that has more the advice is winner.
Examples:
T: I like music, especially foreign music. Which program should I watch?
Ss: Pop music.
T: I like watching about the life and people in different countries all over the world. Which program should I watch?
Ss: The World Today.
* Presentation.
- Introduce the lesson: “You are going to listen to a conversation between Lan and Nam. Nam is going to the amusement center. You listen and tell me what Nam will do there.”
- Introduce some new words:
. Video games: trò chơi điện tử
. Addictive (adj): gây nghiện
. arcade: khu vui chơi
- Ask Ss to copy, repeat, read out, give some examples and learn them by heart at home.
* Practice.
(+) A1- P. 147. Listen. Then practice with a partner.
. Use tape and cassette.
- Set the scene: “You are going to listen the dialogue between Ba and Nam.”
- Play the tape three times, ask Ss to listen to the tape.
- Call 2 some pairs to practice in front of the class.
- Correct their pronunciation.
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to answer the question on page 147.

Students' activities
. Work in groups
- Copy, repeat, read out, give some examples and learn them by heart at home.
- Listen to the tape.
- Practice the dialogue in front of the class.
. Answers:
a) He is going to the amusement center.
b) He is going to play video games.
c) He goes to the amusement center about once a week.
d) No, he doesn't. He doesn't spend much money.
e) He usually plays for about an hour.
f) Nam must be careful because video games can be addictive.
g) He will do his homework later.
4.Drill.
 - Repeat the main knowledge in the lesson.
 - Ss listen and remember.
5. Homework.
 - Learn new words by heart, Prepare new lesson: A2-P. 148.
