1. Past Continuous/ Progressive Tense: (Thì Quá khứ Tiếp diễn) 
Present Continuous Tense được dùng để diễn tả:
- Một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.
EX: Mary was reading an English book at two o’clock yesterday afternoon.
- Một hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ thì bị một hành động khác xen vào. 
S1 + Past Continuous + when + S2 + Simple Past
	 was/were + V_ing	 V2/Ved	
When + S1 + Simple Past, S2 + Past Continuous 
	 V2/Ved	 was/were + V_ing	 
EX: 	I was watching TV when she came home.
 	When she came home, I was watching television. 
S1 + Simple Past + While + S2 + Past Continuous
V2/Ved	 was/were + V_ing
EX: 	While John was reading a book, the phone rang. 
The phone rang while John was reading a book.
- Hai hành động cùng đồng thời xảy ra trong quá khứ. 
S1 + Past Continuous + while + S2 + Past Continuous
EX: 	Sally was watching television while John was reading a book.
 	While John was reading a book, Sally was watching television. 
2. S + be + always + V-ing: thể hiện ý than phiền, phàn nàn về một việc gì đó mà mình hay người khác thường hay làm, hay mắc phải. (thói quen xấu)
EX: I am always getting up late. (Tôi toàn thức dậy trễ)
3. Compound words: Từ ghép
Chúng ta kết hợp một danh từ (N) với một Gerund (V_ing) để tạo thành 1 tính từ kép.
N + V-ing => Adjective
EX:	To make a fire 	→	fire-making
To arrange flowers	→	flower-arranging
To make cars	→	car-making
To export rice	→	rice-exporting
To cook rice	→	rice-cooking
4. Reported speech: Statements (Câu tường thuật: Câu trần thuật)
Direct: 	She said, “My brother is a student”
Indirect:	She said that her brother was a student.
S + said + that + S + V (lùi thì) + O 
S + told + O + that + S + V (lùi thì) + O 	    (said to → told)
5. Reported speech: Yes/No Questions ( Câu tường thuật: Câu hỏi Yes/No)
Để đổi 1 câu hỏi dạng trả lời Yes/No thành câu tường thuật, ta thêm “If” hoặc “Whether”
S + asked + O + if / whether + S + V (lùi thì) + O 
EX: 	Direct: 	He said, “Do you like football?”
Indirect: 	He asked if I liked football.
Direct: 	He said to Nam, “Do you like football?”
Indirect: 	He asked Nam if he liked football.
Quy tắc chuyển đổi thì, trạng từ chỉ thời gian và nơi chốn ở câu tường thuật

6. V_inf / to V_inf / V_ing
- can, could, must, may, might, should, ought to,  + V_inf
- decide, start, begin, try, fail, hope, promise, want, wish, would like,  + to V_inf
- suggest, enjoy, mind, stop, hate, finish, like, love,  + V_ing
	EX: 	Mr. Smith should go to see a doctor. 	
	We started to learn English last month.	
7. Pasive of Simple Past Tense: Bị động của thì QUÁ KHỨ ĐƠN
	S V2 / Ved O
 S + was / were + V3/ Ved + (by + O)
	EX: 	Mary cleaned the house last week.
	→ 	The house was cleaned by Mary last week.
8. Pasive of Present Perfect Tense: Bị động của thì HIỆN TẠI HOÀN THÀNH
	S has / have + V3 / Ved O
 S + has / have + been + V3 / Ved + (by + O)
	EX: 	Lance has won the race.
	→ 	The race has been won by Lance.

New York City is located in the southeastern part of New York State just east of New Jersey. The city was found by the Dutch in 1624. At first is called Fort Amsterdam, and then New Amsterdam. In 1664, the English took over the city and renamed it New York. With the population of more than 7 millions in the city and 19 million in the metropolitan region, New York is the largest city in the United States.
