Objectives: 
By the end of the lesson, my students will be able to:
master some words related to film topic
get more understanding about film: some kinds of film, and film’s history as well
Guess word’s meaning from context
Read to get specific information to answer the question
Develop sub-skills: listening, speaking, writing
Anticipated problem
Students may have problem in understanding the new structure “ It was not until  that” which appears in the reading.

1 Do you want to see a film at the cinema or on TV ?Why ?
2 Can you name some of the film you have seen ?

* Lead to the lesson:
Films are very popular today. We see them on TV, internet or at the cinema. However, not many people know how films began and developed. And now we are going to read the passage to understand more about its history.
* Pre-reading vocabulary:
1. discover (v): find out smt people have never known before: khám phá 
2. sequence (n): series of related events or actions: chuỗi nối tiếp, trình tự
4. decade (n): a period of ten years:

While-reading
Set the scene: 
 You are going to read a passage about the history of cinema. While you read, do the tasks in the text book.
Task 1: 
Instruction: You are going to read the passage silently and do task 1.
Answers:

Task 2:
You read the passage again and answer questions in task 2. 
Let Ss answers the questions by a game named:LUCKY NUMBERS.
Answers:
1. The history of cinema began in the early 19th century.
2. At that time, scientists discovered that when a sequence of still pictures were set in motion, they could give the feeling of movement.
3. No, they didn’t. 
4. In the early 1910s, audiences were able to see long films.
5. Sound was introduced at the end of the 1920s. 
6. As the old silent films were being replaced by spoken ones on the screen, a new cinema form appeared, the musical cinema. 
Task 3: 
Instruction: Read the passage one more time and find the most suitable title for it. 
 Answer: B
- asks Ss to read and translate the requirement

+ First, Ss should read through the definitions provided in the task to identify the part of speech of the words to match each definition. 
For example, in sentences 1,2,3,5,6 the word to fill in should be a noun, and in sentence 4 it should be an adverb. 
+ Then,remember the meaning of phrases
+ Final, Ss should go back to the passage to find suitable words.

Instruction: You are going to work in groups and talk about the history of cinema, using the dates: 19th century, 1905, 1910s, 1915, 1920s.
Answer: 
History of cinema began in the early 19th century. At that time, films were just moving photographs and were about one minute in length. By 1905, films were longer with the appearance of camera and actors. In the early 1910s, audiences were able to enjoy the first long films. In 1915, cinema really became an industry. At the end of the 1920s, the cinema changed completely. 
*Home work:
- learn by heart the new words and make sentences with them
- translate the passage and do exercises in Reading, page 75 (workbook)
- prepare for part B speaking
- gets Ss to work in group of table
- goes around for help
- calls some Ss to report and give feedback 
- discuss and write a passage
- the leader reads group’s passage
