Reading A/ Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to understand a poem about the environment. - Teaching aids: Poster B/ Content: * Warm up: Chatting. T. asks Ss some questions about the poetry. - Do you like poetry? - Do you think it is easy to understand? - Have you read an English poem? - Do you understand it? I/ Pre- reading: 1) Pre- each vocabulary: - Junk yark (n): bãi phế thải ( explanation ) - treasure (n): kho báu ( translation ) - hedge (n): hàng rào ( visual ) - nonsense (n): điều vô nghĩa , dại dột ( translation ) - foam (n): bọt ( picture ) * Checking: R.O.R 2) Set the sence: Two people are going on a picnic. They are talking about the pollution. * Questions: a) Who are the people in the poem? b) Where are they? - Have Ss to work in pairs to get the answer. II/ While – reading: - Ask Ss to read the poem and check their answers. * Answer key: a) The mother and her son. b) They are in the park. * Matching: Have Ss to practise guessing the meaning of the words by matching each word in column A with one in B. What will happen to the boy if he keeps on asking his mother such questions? - His mother will take home right away. 4. Do you think the buy’s questions is silly? – Why not? - No, because he is right, if he throw the bottles that will be polluting the wood / park. 5. What does the poet want us to learn about keeping the environment unpolluted? - The poet wants us to learn that everyone is responsible for keeping the evironment from pollution. III/ Post- reading: Discussion: Open question: What could you do in your house to miimize pollution? What could you do in your school to minimize polluton? T devides class in to four groups. Have Ss write their answers on the poster. T. gives feedback and correct. IV. Homework: - Learn by heart vocabulary. - Write five things that you can do to keep the environment clean. - Do exercise in work book. - Prepare for writing lesson.
