LESSON 2: A CLOSER LOOK 1
A. Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 
- Use the lexical items related to the topic “Our houses in the future”.
- Pronounce the sounds /dr/ and /tr/ correctly.
B. Language contents
- Vocabulary: the lexical items related to the topic “Our houses in the future”.
- Pronunciation: the sounds /dr/ and /tr/.
C. Teaching aids
- Materials: Students’ books, teacher’s book, a laptop, speakers and a projector. 
- Work arrangement: T- WC, individual work, pair work and group work.

I. WARM-UP: “Network”
HOME
- Divide the class into two groups and name them.
- Explain the rules of the game.
- Have the members of each group in turns write the name of room in the house on the board.
- The groups with more correct answers will be the winner.
- Lead to the new lesson.

II. VOCABULARY
1. Presentation
- Help Ss with the pronunciation, spelling and meaning of some new words.

2. Practice
2.1. Activity 1: Put the appliances into the appropriate the columns (Ex.1, p.40)
- Ask Ss to go through the table and put the words into correct columns.
- Have them compare their answers with a partner.
- Check the answers with the class.

Bedroom: Wireless TV, hi-tech robot
Kitchen: Modern Fridge, automatic dishwasher, hi-tech robot
Bathroom: Automatic washing machine, hi-tech robot
2.2. Activity 2: Do the matching (Ex.2, p.40)
- Have Ss go through all the options, then do the matching.
- Ask them to compare the answer with their partner. 
- Check the answers with the class.
- Have Ss practice saying these words.

3. Production
3.1. Activity 1: Ask and answer. ( Ex.3,p.40)
- Ask Ss to look at Ex.2 again and ask and answer questions about appliances in the house.
* Example:
- What does a wireless T.V do?
- It helps us watch T.V programmes from space.
- Ask Ss to read the example.
- Have them make other conversations in pairs.
- Call some Ss to perform before class.
- Listen, repeat and copy down.

III. PRONUNCIATION
- Introduce the sounds /dr/ and /tr/.
- Model the sounds /dr/ and /tr/ and help Ss pronounce them correctly.
- Give some example about the sounds /dr/ and /tr/: dry, drink, try, truck.
Activity 1: Listen and write the words with sounds
/dr/ and /tr/ in the correct column (Ex.4, p.40)
- Ask Ss to look through the chants.
- Play the recording for Ss to listen once.
- Ask Ss to listen and repeat the chants sentence by sentence and call two Ss to read the chants again.
- Ask Ss to write the words into the correct column then compare their answers with their partner. 
- Call some Ss to present their answers.
* Answers:
/dr/: dry, drops, drip, dripping.
/tr/: Countryside, travel, train, tractor, track. 
Activity 2: Practice saying the words and add some more words with the sounds. (Ex.5, p.40)
- Have Ss read the words again. 
- Ask Ss to pay attention to the sounds /dr/ and /tr/.
- Divide Ss into groups of 5.
- Ask groups to add some more words with the sounds /dr/ and /tr/.

- Call a representative from each group to say out their words and write the words on the board.
- Give feedback and correct their answers.
