	The country is (1)___________ beautiful than a town and pleasant to live in. Many people think so, and go to the country for the summer holidays though they cannot live there all the year round. Some have a cottage built in a village (2)____________ that they can go there whenever they have time.

 When I was asked to visit and write about the Great Barrier Reef, I was thrilled. I had heard reports of damage done by tourism and other industries, but felt that the Reef would still be a wonderful place to see. (0)____________H_______________.
 From the air, the Great Barrier Reef seems huge. (1)_______________________. I wasn’t sure how best to explore such a giant place, so after I had landed, I made enquiries and was told the best way to see the Reef is to take a dive cruise. I booked a place on a three-day cruise, and, despite warnings about the state of some of these boats, the boat I was on was comfortable and clean. (2)______________________________. I was entitled to eight dives plus use of wet suit, flippers and other equipment, three meals a day and two nights’ accommodation.

 While I was at the Great Barrier Reef, it became perfectly clear from the conservation programs I came across, that the damage I had heard about had been done. (6)_____________________________. Environmental groups have done much to stop this damage, but sadly it continues.
 Despite this, the Great Barrier Reef is a wonderful place to go. For me at least it is one of the most significant natural wonders our earth has to offer.

Everybody has heard about the Internet, but do you know what an “intranet” is? It is this: just as the Internet connects people around the world, intranets connect people within a single company. In fact, intranets make use of the same software programs as the Internet to contact computers and people. This means that you do not have to buy a lot of additional programs to set up an intranet service. If your intranet is working properly, it can link together a huge amount of information which is stored in different places in the company. In this way, people can get the information they need, regardless of where it comes from. A company intranet can, of course, be used for unimportant information like office memos and canteen menus. But an intranet should provide important information which people need to make decisions about new products, costs and so on. The intranet is willing to share the information with other people. Unfortunately, many departments don’t want to share their special knowledge with others. Another problem which often occurs is that top managers like to use the intranets to “communicate down” rather than to “communicate across”. That is, they use the intranets to give orders, not to exchange information between themselves and others working in the same organization.
