X. Read the passage carefully, then choose the correct answers.
What is needed now is a national educational program for women who seriously want to continue or resume their education, which they have had to cut short for reasons resulting from having to conform to the role of the woman. They must of course be willing to commit themselves to its use in a profession. The federal government should be prepared to provide properly qualified women with tuition fees, plus an additional subsidy to defray other expenses, such as books, travel, even, if necessary, some household help. It would permit mothers to use existing educational facilities on a part-time basis and carry on individual study and research projects at home during the years regular classroom attendance is impossible. The whole concept of women’s education would be regeared from four-year-college to a life plan under which a woman could continue her education, without conflict with her marriage, her husband and her children. Woman who have matured during the housewife moratorium need education to find their identity as individual people, not just as “a woman”, in society. Their desperate need for education and the desperate need of the nation for the almost untapped reserves of these women’s intelligence and ability in all professions justify a new, national program especially for married women.
