 1. Adjectives and adverbs ( tính từ và trạng từ)
+ Tính từ đứng trước danh từ và bổ nghĩa cho danh từ đó. ExHe is a good teacher 
+ Đứng sau động từ TOBE và một số động từ nối ( linking verbs): look, seem, feel, appear, smell (có mùi), sound ( có vẻ, dường như) become, get, taste 
 Ex: He looks intelligent. He is tall
 + Trạng từ bổ nghĩa cho động từ và các từ khác trong câu
Ex: - My teacher teaches well
 - I couldn’t come simply because I was ill.	 - It is a very interesting book.
* Exercise: 
Tom is (slow) ________________. He works ________________. 
Sue is a (careful) ________________girl. She climbed up the ladder ________________. 
The dog is (angry) ________________. It barks ________________. 
2. Adverbs clauses of reason ( Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ lí do/nguyên nhân)
+ Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ nguyên nhân bắt đầu bằng as, because hoặc since 
Form: Main clause + As / Because / Since + Adv Clause of reason
Ex: As/ Because /Since he has no money, he can’t buy that house.
= He can’t buy that house as/ because / since he has no money. 
 *Use the suggested words in brackets to combine the following sentences.
1. Nga didn’t go to school. She was ill. ( because ) "..
2. I was careless. I broke the cup ( since)"...
3. It was raining heavily outside. We postponed the picnic. (As) "...............
3. Adjective + that clause ( Tính từ + mệnh đề That)
+I am afraid that I will not come tomorrow (Tôi e rằng ngày mai không đến được)
+We’re pleased that you passed ( Chúng tôi hài lòng bạn đã thi đậu)
* Write sentences in the correct order:
1. she/ surprised/ am/ hasn’t/ I/ that/ phoned//"....
2. we/ that/ never/ disappointed/ replied/ our letter/ to/are/he//"
3. we/ would/ the flight/ afraid/ were/ you/ miss/ that. "
4. Conditional sentences: 
a) Conditional sentences: Type 1
Điều kiện có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai với Modal verbs

- Điều kiện không có thật ở hiện tại /Điều kiện không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại .

 +If he were a good student, he could help you. 	( Hiện tại anh ấy không giúp bạn được)
.I Put the verbs in brackets in the correct form 
1. If I find it, I (give).you a call. 2. If you (like), I can get you a job in this company.

5. Connectives (Liên từ) " Dùng để nối 2 câu/ 2 đoạn văn thành 1 (and, but, because, or, so, therefore, however)
Ex + I am a student and he is a student , too.
 + I am tall, but he isn’t. + Nam failed in his exam because he didn’t study.
+ Would you like tea or coffee? + Ba was very tired, so he went to early.
 + I passed the test, therefore, my dad took me to the concert. + Lan is very tired, however, she must finish her works.
*. Choose the correct word to complete each sentence: and. but. or, so, because, however, therefore.
1. You can take it ..leave it.	 2. She closed the door left for the city.
3. Jane is intelligent .hard-working. 4. We often have eggs ..bread for breakfast.
5. Would you like tea, ..coffee? Tea, please. 6. She can dance, she can’t sing.
6. Phrasal verbs: (Cụm động từ) đi sau kèm động từ là một giới từ và mang một ý nghĩa khác
 turn off (tắt), turn on(mở), look for (tìm kiếm), look after ( chăm sóc), go on (tiếp tục)look up (tra từ điển),give out, give up, wear over, .
1. He forgot . the lights when he went to bed. 2. ..the light! It’s very dark here. 
3. What are you ..? 4. The doctor often .. the patients in the hospital. 
- If you .. doing that, you’ll be punished.
7. Making suggestions: ( Đưa ra lời đề nghị) SUGGEST + VERB- ING, 
 - I suggest speaking English in class. ( Tôi đề nghị nói tiêng Anh trong lớp)
 SUGGEST (THAT) + S + SHOULD+ Vinf
I suggest (that) he should go to see the doctor. (Tôi đề nghị anh ấy nên đi khám bác sĩ)
Put the verbs in the brackets in the correct form:
1. The doctor suggested that his patient (stop)smoking. 2. How about (dine)..out tonight?
3. I suggest that you should (take)a vacation. 4. I suggested (help)..our mother with the housework.
5. Why don’t we (go).to the library now? 6. Let’s (do)some reading every day.
7. What about (ask).our teacher for help.
8. Relative clauses :( Mệnh đề quan hệ)
 Đại từ quan hệ : WHO, WHICH, THAT
+ Who : thay thế cho từ chỉ người đứng trước nó/ làm chủ từ cho mệnh đề sau.
+ Which : thay thế cho từ chỉ vật, con vật đứng trước nó làm chủ từ và tân ngữ cho mệnh đề sau.
+ That : có thể thay thế cho who, which 
Ví dụ: 1.The woman who wears a hat is my sister. 	 2.The man who you saw yesterday is your teacher.
3.The book which is on the table is hers. 4.The bag which you are holding in your hand is our teacher.
+ That : có thể thay thế cho who, which ở 4 câu trên.
 * Phải dùng “that” trong các trường hợp sau
Cụm danh từ hỗn hợp chỉ người và vật Eg: The girls and flowers that he painted were vivid.
They saw the men and women and cattle that went to the field.
Sau tính từ so sánh nhất và the first, the last, the only Eg: She is the ugliest girl that I’ve ever seen.
Sau các đại từ bất định all, nothing, nobody, anything, much, little
Eg: 	+ I have never seen anyone that is as lovely as she. + Much that I have ever seen is interesting.
Note: *Không được dùng “that” trong các trường hợp sau
 Có giới từ đứng trước đại từ quan hệ.
The house in which I live is my father’s. Câu này có giới từ IN *Không được dùng “that” để thay thế cho in which
 Put which/ who/ that. There may be more than one answer for each sentence:
1. I met a man knows you. 2. We walked down the steps .led to the basement.
3. Hide and seek is a game ..I liked to play as a child. 4. The woman I spoke to is in the next room. 
II. Combine the sentences using appropriate relative pronouns:
1. This morning I missed the train. I usually catch this train.........................
2. I met Mary. She asked me to give you this ......................................
3. I gave you the book. It had many interesting drawings.
4. I’ve lived in Hanoi. It’s a very ancient and beautiful city.
5. These cakes are very delicious. I bought them yesterday.
2) Adverb clauses of concession ( Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ)
-Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ bắt đầu bằng though, although, even though
Eg: 	+ Although she is very tired, she tries to finish her work.
+ He likes her very much though she doesn’t like him.
Combine the sentences using Although/ even though/ Though:
1. I couldn’t sleep. I was tired"..
2. We enjoyed the holiday. It rained a lot".
3. He’s moving to London next month. He doesn’t like big cities. "....................................
4. She isn’t English. She speaks English perfectly".
5. They have very little money. They are happy"
9. Modal verbs: may, might ( Động từ khiếm khuyết may, might ) Động từ khiếm khuyết may, might chỉ khả năng có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai. Tuy nhiên might có khả năng xảy ra kém hơn.
Eg: It may rain. (1) (Trời có thể mưa)
 It might rain. (2) " Khả năng câu 2 kém hơn câu 1.

 	Air pollution is caused of ill – health in human beings. In a lot of countries, there are laws limiting the amount of smoke which factories can produce although there is not enough information on the effects of smoke in the atmosphere. Doctors have proved that air pollution causes lung diseases. The gases from the exhausts of cars have also increased air pollution in most cities. The lead in petrol produces a poisonous gas, which is often collected in busy streets circled by high buildings. Children who live in areas where there is a lot of lead in the atmosphere cannot think as quickly as other children, and are clumsy ( vụng về ) when they use their hands 
 Questions :1. What does the air pollution cause?
2. Who has proved that air pollution causes lung diseases?
Is there air pollution in the city? Why or why not?
What happens to the children who lives in areas where there is a lot of lead in the atmosphere?
