They/We were/weren’t Resources WORKBOOK p.55 Teaching Aids: Flashcards 71 - 76 – memories Introduction aPlay Snap with the memories flash cards. Show a flash card and say the word. If it is the same the children say “SNAP” Development aShow the flashcards again and elicit a sentence for each one. aWrite naughty were The ducks. on the board. Ask a child to come to the board and write the sentence in the correct order. aThe children do exercise 1 on page 55 in their workbooks. a Ask them to compare their answers with their partner before you feedback. a Do a dictogloss with the sentences from the workbook. Read out a sentence e.g. Rosy and Tim were in the park. The children listen but cannot write. When you have finished reading the sentence, ask the children to work with a partner and write the sentence. Read it again, the children don’t write, they then add or check the sentence they have. Continue like this with the 5 sentences from exercise 2. a Ask the children to use their sentences to help them complete exercise 2. Consolidation aVocabulary review: play categories: Put the children in teams of 4. One child in the team is the writer. Tell them a category one at a time e.g. school subjects, after school activities, school rooms and areas, colours, things in the classroom, party objects and everyday activities, getting ready, memories. The teams have one minute to write as many things as they can remember for that category. The winning group has the most for each category.
