Give each group a blend – sl, gl, cl, fl, pl, bl. Shout out the words from the last 2 phonics lesson e.g. blanket, flower, cloud. When the groups hear a word beginning with their blend they stand up. Development aAsk the children when we give people cards? e.g. birthdays, Christmas, New Year and try to get Mother’s day. aAsk the children to open their books at p.24 and look at the pictures. Ask them to tell you what is happening in each picture. Ask them to read and circle the colours they find in the text. Write their answers on the board. aRecording 33: Ask the children to listen to the track. a Recording 33: Play the track again and ask the children some questions e.g. Who is the card for? What does his mum like? What does he draw on the card? a Recording 33: The children listen again and point to the pictures. aOn the board write, Draw a picture on the front of the cake/card. Ask the children to tell you which is the correct word cake or card? aThe children do exercise 3. Consolidation aAsk the children to close their books. Hold up a piece of paper and elicit the instructions from them about how to make a card. aWriting: Ask the children to follow the instructions on p.24 in their books and make a card for a friend or member of the family.
