Give each group a blank sheet of paper. Ask one child to draw a large rectangle on the sheet. Tell the group that it is a bedroom. Invite individual group member to identify different things in the rectangle, e.g. (Mary), There is a cupboard. (David), There is a bed. Continue until the bedroom is complete. Encourage children to state the position of each item. Ask one child from each group to come before the class and talk about their bedroom. Ask ten children to come to the front of the class. Give each one a number flashcard and ask them to arrange themselves so they are standing in the correct order from one to ten. Chorus the numbers with the class. a Use flashcards 35- 44 to introduce the numbers 11- 20. Hold up the cards one at a time and model the words for children to repeat. Ask ten different children to come to the front of the class. As before, give each one a flashcard and ask them to stand in the correct order. Say the numbers with the class. Development aRecording 39: Ask children to look at the numbers in their Class Books. Play the first part of the recording for children to point to the words. Play the second part of the recording for children to repeat the words. Play the recording all the way through again for children to listen and point and then repeat. aRecording 40: Use the song worksheet (without opening the Class Book) where children listen and fill in the correct words. After that ask children to sing along with the CD and then sing together without the CD audio. aSing and do: Ask children to look at the pictures and decide together on what the actions should be (see suggestions below). Practise the actions with the class. Play the recording for children to listen and do their actions. Consolidation a Count and sing: Count around the class. Start the game yourself. Say one and then point to the child nearest you to say two. The child nearest him / her says three, and so on. Continue to count around to twenty and then continue with one again till the last child of the class. Play the recording 40. Ask children to listen to the song and jump up in the air if they hear their number. Hold up the cards one at a time and model the words for children to repeat. Ask ten different children to come to the front of the class. As before, give each one a flashcard and ask them to stand in the correct order. Say the numbers with the class. Development aExercise 1: Ask children to open their workbook at the page 32. Ask them to join the dots from 1 - 20 to find out what it is (a bed). They then work in pairs, say the numbers and check them with a friend. Chorus the numbers with the class. aExercise 2: Ask children to work in pairs, find and circle the words. They then write the words underneath the numbers. Chorus the numbers with the class. Consolidation a Game: Write number words on the board in a random order, e.g. eighteen, thirteen, five, twenty, seven. Ask individual children to come to the front of the class one at a time and write the correct digits underneath the numbers. Chorus the numbers. aPlay Bingo again to revise the bedroom words and numbers. Development aPicture Dictionary: Ask children open their Workbooks to p.70 (Number 4, Food and drinks). Tell them to look at the pictures and identify the things in a bedroom and review numbers and then tell them to point and say the words. E.g. bed/ cupboard// eleven/ twelve Children then work in pairs and check their answers. aWriting Exercise 1: Children do the exercise 1 from the Extra writing worksheet. Ask them to look at the pictures, identify the things in a bedroom and numbers and write the correct words to finish the puzzle. Elicit the spelling and ask some individual children to come up and write the words on the board. Ask the class to say the words. aWriting Exercise 2: Ask children to look at the picture of a bedroom, complete the sentences with There’s, There are and a preposition to identify the things and their positions. Children then work in pairs and compare the answers. 1. There’s a football under my bed. 2. There are dolls on my rug. 3. There is a train in my cupboard. 4. There is a teddy on my bed. Consolidation aSpeaking and writing extension: Ask each child to draw a bedroom with different things. Children then work in group, take turns to identify things in the bedroom. E.g. There are two dolls in my bedroom.
